The South East Institutes of Technology in Waterford and in Carlow are very actively working on merging to deliver a new technological university for the South East. There are great potential benefits for industry in the region.  

Proactive engagement with industry will be central to the new university. While the existing institutes already have a rich diversity of ongoing industry engagement, more co-ordinated and streamlined structures and processes could realise greater benefits. A more structured approach to industry engagement is a key priority for all concerned in the context of a newly-developing, multi-campus technological university and expert consultancy is being engaged in that regard.
